After having time to reflect, we feel that now would be an appropriate time for us to step down from organising the Bruce Robinson Rally.

We would like to thank many of you who have taken the time and effort to inundate and overwhelm us with emails and telephone calls, 95 percent of which have been very positive and extremely encouraging. We sincerely apologise that we will not be organising the event for you to enjoy next year. Despite all the long hours and painstaking hard work over the last five years, we have both thoroughly enjoyed giving something back to the sport that we love so much, and therefore we are just as disappointed as you, if not more so.

For the other people who have apparently raised concerns about the 2011 event being ‘simply not enjoyable’ we apologise, that was never supposed to be the intentions of our considerable and unrelenting efforts.

We cannot let the opportunity pass without thanking our event sponsors in particular Mike Raw of M.G. Raw Motor Group, other members of LMC&CC who have contributed to the event without question every year and all the marshals who have helped man numerous controls across the Lincolnshire countryside.

We wish to give an extra special thank you to the landowners, some of which have become good friends. They have all been exceptionally helpful and a fundamental part of our event, it is greatly appreciated.

Finally big thanks to everyone who voted the Bruce as the best event in the ANEMMC and ANCC Road Rally Championships 2010. We hope the 2011 event follows suit.

Good luck to everyone in whatever motorsport activities you pursue in the future.

Once again many thanks.

David and John Dimbleby

PS. Would anyone like 400 pallets?

Spirit of the Rally Award

After consultation with Mike from M.G. Raw Motor Group we feel that the deserving winners of the Spirit of the Rally Award are Dave Broadley and Sam Spencer, Car 35.

Fittingly for Dave, from the last minute rallying bunch, they were only paired together just hours before leaving MTC 1. In fact, Sam, just 17 years old, found out he was competing just 15 minutes before he had to leave home. Despite the last minute nature and Dave’s rather enthusiastic driving style they managed to get round the route fail free and put many of the more experienced crews to shame. Congratulations to you both.

Dear Marshal,

On behalf of myself, David and the rest of the organising team, may I sincerely thank you, once again, for helping to marshal the ‘Bruce’ on what was a bitterly cold night. In total we manned all the time controls and in addition 14 passage checks. I cannot recollect, certainly in recent years, achieving these numbers.

I have heard only compliments regarding your performance from the various competitors to which I have spoken. Well done.

Congratulations to the winners of the Marshals Prize Draw which are as follows:

STC 26 - Richard Hunter

STC 45 - Rob Hardy and team

Thank you to Mike of M.G. Raw Motor Group for providing the prizes for the draw. I will contact the winners in the near future to arrange delivery of your prize.

Once again many thanks.

Spirit of the Rally Award

Due to the kind generosity of our event sponsor, Mike Raw of M.G. Raw Motor Group a new award is being introduced this year. A 'Spirit of the Rally' award will be given to the crew who in the opinion of Mike and the Clerks of the Course, have shown true spirit having triumphed over adversity during the event. The recipients of this award will receive a free entry into the 2012 Bruce Robinson Rally. The winning crew will be announced via the web site and notified by email in the days after the event once the stories have filtered through. So if you have a tough or particularly eventful night, please let us know.

Marshals Prize Draw

In recognition of the excellent work and commitment shown by our marshals there will be two £25 prize draws to show our appreciation, once again kindly donated by Mike of M.G. Raw Motor Group. The prizes will be drawn by control number and no crew of marshals can win both prizes. The draw will take place during the event with the winning controls / marshals being published on the website and via email shortly after the event.

We are delighted to announce that 'Chef on Tour' will be attending the start venue providing us with excellent food and refreshments. We listened to a few of you last year who rightly suggested that the start venue needed refreshments so we hope that you take full advantage of them. Please see the sample menu here. We advise that you turn up with a strong appetite!

Event preparations are progressing positively. The PR work has been successfully completed with only a few issues along the way. The private land sections are shaping up nicely, quite dry compared to previous years but that could well change given the forecast for tomorrow . All the paperwork has been completed and checked, just needs printing.

We still require a large number of marshals so if you are willing to help out then please email John at johndimbleby@aol.com It is quite worrying that with such a good entry we have so few marshals with only a week before the event. It would be a real shame to have to cut some sections out. We offer free goody bags, and marshals manning two or more controls can receive a free breakfast at the finish venue.

Many thanks.
